He is a native of Zimbabwe and has travelled extensively throughout Sub-Saharan Africa. Matthew is frequently cited in media outlets such as Reuters and Bloomberg on the countries that he covers. He holds Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Western Australia with majors in economics and finance and has passed Level 1 of the CFA designation.
