John Clarke has considerable experience in mineral exploration, corporate acquisition and development in the gold mining sector in Africa.
John was CEO of Nevsun Resources. Prior to joining Nevsun, he was Executive Director of Ashanti Goldfields Company Limited of Ghana.
He joined Ashanti in 1982 and contributed to establishing Ashanti's gold exploration program throughout sub-Saharan Africa. He is
the Director of several companies which have exploration and development activities in Africa.
John holds a B.Sc. in metallurgy from University College Cardiff, a Ph.D. in metallurgy from Cambridge University
and an MBA from Middlesex Polytechnic.
Steven MarkeyManaging Consultant, Fertilizers & Chemicals, CRU Strategies
During his 30 year career in the fertilizer industry, Steve Markey has held a variety of positions engaged in sales and
marketing, supply chain management, product sourcing, and risk management. Previous employers include Cargill,
Agriliance/CHS, Mississippi Chemical, and Agrium. He has served on the Boards of Phosrock and Phoschem and has
extensive commercial trading experience with nitrogen products, phosphate products, by products and raw materials,
and potash.
Steve joined CRU Strategies in 2010 and has provided senior project input into strategic, valuation, and
market decisions involving several major phosphate, potash, and sulphur and sulphuric acid projects.
Steve has an MBA in International Business from Cleveland State University.
Jack ScottSenior Vice President-Strategic Projects, Allana Potash
Jack Scott develops the commercial and financial structures of Allana's projects. Starting his career in
telecommunications, Jack then spent ten years in a small team building multinational engineering/construction
firm, AGRA Inc. (now part of AMEC plc). His more recent roles include: Vice President, Commercial at NaiKun Wind
Energy Group Inc; CEO of Advanced Applied Physics Solutions Inc; and Vice President, Corporate Development at
Atomic Energy of Canada Limited.
Jack is a Registered Professional Engineer, a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and
a past member of the Conference Board of Canada Strategy Development Council. Educated in Canada, he has a B.Sc.
in Chemical Engineering from Queen's University and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario Ivey School of Business.
He also has positions on a number of technology company boards.
Gerry ClarkeIndustrial Minerals Commentator
Gerry Clarke is a Mine Geologist and Applied Mineralogist and former lecturer in Applied Mineralogy at the University of Plymouth, UK.
He is a former Editor for the Industrial Minerals, and an Executive Director of Metal Bulletin. Gerry has written extensively across
the spectrum of industrial minerals, and organised and chaired many conferences on behalf of Industrial Minerals Magazine and made
numerous presentations to others' events over the years. Gerry is also the compiler and publisher of the Magnesia Availability
Wall Map and, in partnership with P W Harben, Inc., the creator of the Lithium Availability Wall Map. Gerry has a Masters degree
in Applied Mineralogy and a Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering and Geology.

David CliffCEO, Empire Mining
David Cliff is the former Exploration Manager, Europe of Rio Tinto Exploration. During his 26 years with Rio Tinto he was
involved in the discovery of three gold and one copper deposit and gained experience in the exploration of a wide
variety of minerals and deposit types with a particular specialisation in copper-gold porphyry systems and epithermal
precious metal systems. He has lead multinational and multidisciplinary teams in a variety of environments and
jurisdictions, particularly in Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey and has extensive experience in the evaluation of
mineral projects and in the negotiation of all forms of mining industry agreements.
Brian CoopeIndustrial Minerals Analyst
Brian Coope is a Chartered Engineer specialising in industrial minerals and construction raw materials. Brian graduated in industrial
metallurgy from the University of Birmingham in 1968, and then joined the Aero Engine Division of Rolls Royce as a Metallurgist.
Brian joined Metal Bulletin in 1973 and played a central role in the development of the then newly-launched publication 'Industrial Minerals',
becoming Deputy Editor in 1973 and Editor in 1977. During his thirteen years with 'Industrial Minerals' he prepared detailed studies on virtually
the whole range of non-metallic minerals as well as writing books on glass and refractory raw materials, editing directories and conference volumes,
and organising international conferences. Brian Left Metal Bulletin to set up a consultancy specialising in the commercialisation of industrial minerals.
Clients have included major mining companies, exploration companies, investment banks, and government departments.
Ben KoppelmanSenior Policy Advisor, Science Policy Centre, Royal Society
Ben Koppelman works at the Royal Society- the world's premier organisation for independent scientific advice. He is the
Director of the Royal Society's Committee on the Scientific Aspects of International Security. Ben has managed
several key studies on a variety of nuclear technology and policy issues, including Fuel cycle stewardship in
a nuclear renaissance for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office; Strategy options for the UK's separated plutonium
for the Department of Energy and Climate Change; and nuclear weapons related projects for the Ministry of Defence.
Ben has also been taking a lead in the Royal Society's activities in science diplomacy, including the Atlas of
Islamic World Science and Innovation that considers the role of science cooperation to strengthen links with,
and within, the Islamic World. Previously Ben was responsible for the Royal Society's interests in UK
civil Space policy.
Prior to this Ben worked at the Department of War Studies, King's College London, the Foreign Policy Centre and
the United Nations Development Programme in Honduras. Ben has a BA in Natural Sciences from Pembroke College,
University of Cambridge and an MA in Philosophy King's College London.

Philip Macoun has worked in copper, bauxite/alumina, industrial minerals and gold/silver, in several countries and for several major projects.
Phil has particular expertise in project assessment, technology innovation, mineral commodity sales and marketing strategies. Prior to joining
CRU he was Vice President, North American Operations for Gekko Systems, a producer of gravity separation and leaching in the gold and silver
industries. Phil was involved in the development of magnesia production and sales for the refractory, chemical and fertilizer industries
based around the Kunwarara magnesite deposit.
Philip holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment,
and a Masters degree from the University of Oregon.

Alan Gibbon graduated from the University of Birmingham as a Mineral Processor but has spent over 30 years in the platinum and
precious metal refining business. He also has specialist experience in plasma technology. Prior to joining MIRO in 1993 as a
Project Manager, Alan worked for Johnson Matthey Plc and now specialises in precious metal treatments, mineral wastes,
pyrometallurgy, process modelling and environmental issues. He holds a BSc Civil Engineering.

John Menzies has more than 25 years experience in the resource sector. Mr. Menzies currently serves as the Chairman of Cmi Capital
Limited. Prior to this John was Chief Executive Officer, Chairman and President of Euromax Resources Ltd and President and Chief
Executive Officer of Steppe Gold Resources. John commenced his career as a Geologist, in Houston Oil & Minerals Inc. and then
Amax Iron Ore Corporation Ltd. He also served as Vice President of Exploration for Carbine Gold NL. As a consultant John
advised companies on projects as diverse as gold, base metals, diamonds and industrial minerals. He focused on the financial
aspects of the natural resources sectors and has been involved in the successful development of mining and energy projects

SE Europe Geoscience Foundation, a not-for-profit geoscience education foundation. He is a Member of professional
