Following a law degree from Oxford University, Mr Poulden qualified as a barrister, after which he moved into merchant banking
where he worked for Samuel Montagu & Co Limited. Following an MBA at the London Business School and the exchange program with
Harvard Business School, he joined the international management consultancy firm, Arthur D Little. There he worked in their
European strategy practice and was co-founder of their Financial Industries Group.
Whilst serving on the UK Leadership Team of Electronic Data Systems, he worked on the merger of their global energy practice.
He has also worked on natural resource projects in South America (ammonia) and the United States (oil and natural gas) and on
potash, salt and gold in Australia.
Currently, Mr Poulden is Deputy Chairman of Sirius Minerals Plc which has salt and potash deposits in Australia and
North America. He is Chairman of the consulting firm Black Swan Plc and a director of MoneySwap Holdings Limited, a
Hong Kong-based foreign exchange firm. Mr Poulden is also a director of Drummond Basin Phosphate Pty Ltd, which has
uranium and phosphate deposits in Australia, and Chairman of Wishbone Gold Pty Ltd which has gold deposits, also in Australia.
